Photographing at my favourite event of the year – Dartington International Summer School & Festival. From top left – Nicholas Clapton, countertenor, Jon Banks – early music specialist, Tamin Al-Barghouti – Palestinian poet and Martin Carthy – folk singer and guitarist.

There will be an exhibition of a selection of my portraits of composers who have visited Dartington Summer School of Music, some of them on numerous occasions over many years. The exhibition will be in the West Wing of the courtyard at Dartington and can be viewed after the 29 July 2017. Here are two of the images which will be on show – the Japanese composer Somei Satoh, and the English composer Tansy Davies.

The other day I took some publicity and book jacket photos of author Simon Miller whose book Ebolowa – a thriller based on a true story and set in Cameroon – is shortly to be published by Unbound for their new digital list.

A couple of months ago I photographed Alan Lewis Jones a classic model to update his agency photos. This month I photographed another classic model – Janey Goddard – who often works with Alan on fashion shoots.

For a few years now I’ve been photographing the employees of the Dartington based architects Gillespie Yunnie for their website. We always use the same location and each subject brings with them to the photoshoot, an object that says something about their interests and enthusiasms outside the workplace. This is the latest batch……see the rest on their website at www.gyarchitects.co.uk

This week I photographed my good friend John Henshaw who will be exhibiting his wonderful paintings at the Harbour House Centre in Kingsbridge from 18-23 August.

At the weekend I documented the Symposium of Ideas, an event organised by Ageing Well Torbay and held at Central Church, Torquay. There were talks, workshops, stories, dancing, advice and many other activities for the over 50s. The day was joyful, informative and great fun…

I came across these photographs while looking in my archive for a cover image for a booklet shortly to be published by the Dartington Hall Trust. They show Dartington College of Arts MA Choreography students in 2010 performing a piece called ‘Naiads’ in and with the River Dart at the last degree shows before the College finally moved to Falmouth.

The respected French bow maker Bernard Millant has died age 87 and The Strad magazine are publishing photographs I took of him at a violin conference held at Dartington in 1998. Looking over his shoulder is Pete Oxley, guitarist and bow maker.

A few photos from a photo shoot I did with The Lost Sound Chorus on a very blustery day at Combestone Tor on Dartmoor at the weekend. The choir was formed in 2008 by their Director, Sandra Smith who has taught singing, breathing, and performing techniques to professional and beginner singers for 30 years. They sing with a strong folk element and seek out imaginative and contemporary arrangements to old melodies.
